End of season report
Unfortunately 2017 was not as successful as the previous year, with the 1st XI finishing in 6th position in Cambs & Hunts Premier Leaue Div1 and the 2nd XI managing to maintain their league position again in CCA Senior 1, finishing in 6th. The National Village Cup XI appeared in the national rounds once again (5 years in a row), however went out to local rivals Reed CC who went on to win the competition in the final at Lord's.
The junior section has had another successful year in terms of numbers of juniors playing cricket - the U15's reached the county cup final and won their league! The colts section continues to grow with the superb efforts of Tim O'Connell at the helm, with the club intending to run Under 15’s, Under 13’s, Under 11’s and Under 9's teams along with the ECB’s All Stars programme for 2018. As always any volunteers to help support the running of the colts section would be greatly appreciated, without the kind support of volunteers this section of the club would not be able to succeed as it does.
The playing square continues to improve due to the commitment of Matt Gray and Andy Cambridge. Following an additional year’s growth having being professionally levelled at the end of 2016, the square is expecting to be better than ever. A few members commented that the outfield is one of the best in Cambridgeshire due to all the work of Matt Gray and Andy Cambridge.
The club is looking to develop a Sunday XI to play a number friendly fixutures in 2018. This requires someone to pick up the responsibility of leading this, in terms of arranging fixtures and selecting teams. The committee will continue to look at various options and ask senior players.
