Foxton 1st XI v Godmanchester 1st XI at Foxton
Godmanchester 86 (25.4 overs) Foxton 90-1 (12.5 overs)
Despite a strong cross wind at Foxton on Saturday making bowling very difficult the combined efforts of Patrick Joseph and Jeffery Douglas blew the Godmanchester batting line up away. Winning the toss again skipper Sid Sabey invited the visitors to bat on a firm flat track and sat back to watch Joseph with 13-3-40-6 and Douglas 12.4-2-36-4 bowl unchanged to destroy the Godmanchester batting finally dismissing them for a paltry 86, their lowest total since their relegation from the East Anglian Premier League. An outstanding effort by both in the conditions. Visitors captain Paul Swannell with 24 and wicket keeper Michael Cafferkey 16 were the only two to offer any kind of resistance.
If batting had proved difficult it did not show as Foxton began their reply. Antonnel Atwell (24) and John Procajlo opened with a stand of 45 in rapid time before Swannell dismissed the former leg before. The in form Lawrence Farnum joined Procajlo and they quickly finished off the match with respective scores of 21 and 35 not out. Foxton's total of 90-1 contained 15 fours and two sixes. This latest win by Foxton against the third placed team by nine wickets was arguably their best of the season and with only three matches remaining they are striving for a high finish in the league.
Next week they visit bottom side Abington.
