The Foxes secured their spot at Lord’s with a thrilling 8-run victory in Cornwall on Sunday.

Batting first, the Foxes posted 153/8 in their 40 overs. Webster made 40 at the top of the order, but a mini-collapse left the team struggling at 72-5. Captain Lewys Hill then stepped in, scoring a vital 40 and forming a crucial 63-run partnership with Hopwood for the sixth wicket. By the end of the innings, the Foxes total seemed slightly below par, but the team remained confident that a strong bowling performance could still secure the win.

In response, Grampound Road started strongly, reaching 57 without losing a wicket. However, the introduction of spin began to slow the scoring, and the Foxes fought back, leaving the game finely balanced at the halfway mark. A remarkable spell of cricket followed, as Beer re-entered the attack and took 3 quick wickets, supported by Kaufman’s 2/25. Excellent death bowling from Campbell, along with tight fielding that included two run-outs and a diving catch, kept the pressure on the Cornish side. With 11 runs needed from the final over and just one wicket remaining, Hill took on the responsibility and bowled Grampound’s number 11 with his third delivery, sparking wild celebrations from the Foxton Granta players and supporters.

The Foxes will face 2022 champions Dumbleton CC from Gloucestershire at Lord’s on Sunday 15th September. Further details about the final will be shared as soon as they are available.
