2025 Season Wrap-Up

Now that the dust has settled on a busy 2025 season, here’s a look back at how each side performed.

#1STXI – Finished 9th

P | 31 – W | 16 – D | 4 – L | 9 – NR | 2

A season of contrasts for the 1’s. The highlight came with the team being crowned back-to-back National Village Cup champions, sealed with another memorable day at Lord’s. However, league results were mixed, with a 9th-place finish and a playoff victory needed to secure Division 1 status for 2026.

With the bat, Johnny Atkinson & Adam Webster both passed the 1,000-run mark. Sam Beer led the bowling attack superbly with 51 wickets (best of 5/23), while Lewys Hill, Ravi Mahendra, Richard Kaufman, Max Sargentina, and Ash Clark all contributed 25 or more wickets.

#2NDXI – Finished 5th

P | 17 – W | 8 – L | 8

The 2’s campaign was a tale of two halves. Early struggles with player availability made for a challenging start, but the side finished strongly to climb into 5th place - a credit to their persistence and improvement as the season went on. Louis Ayres topped the batting charts with a highest score of 113, while mid-season addition Gourav Som provided several key contributions as well as being solid with the gloves behind the stumps. It was also great to see youngsters Alfie Piper, Jack Carnegie, and Cillian Harrison make an impact, alongside returning players Hamza Rashid, Sacha Abassi, and Kush Kumar.

With the ball, Asama Weerasekara and Hamza Rashid shared top honours, each taking 20+ wickets.

#3RDXI – Finished 7th

P | 13 – W | 3 – L | 9 – T | 1

The 3’s continued to blend experience with youth, competing well throughout the season but ultimately falling short in their bid to avoid relegation.

Arahan Chattopadhyay enjoyed an excellent all-round season, scoring 306 runs and taking 14 wickets. Nigel Gadsby once again showed his quality with an unbeaten century against Royston whilst Chris Jones scored two classy 50’s. Similar to the 2’s, we were pleased to see several younger players make good contributions, in particular Jake Boyle, Josh & Alex Saunders, Seb Taylor and Johnny Price. A big thank you to Cokenach CC for hosting the side this year and providing a great home base for the team and to Dean Saunders for his off-field work.

#MIDWEEKXI – Finished 3rd

P|12 - W|6 - L|6

The Midweek team enjoyed another strong campaign, finishing 3rd. Although they couldn’t quite defend their Div1 title, the season once again achieved its main goal - providing valuable opportunities for younger players to gain experience in senior cricket, with results coming as a bonus. Louis Ayres led the way with the bat, scoring 278 runs, closely followed by Max Sargentina with 244. Special thanks to Harry Hopwood and Sam Beer for their on-field leadership, and to Henry Campbell for his off-field organisation - including the ever-popular end-of-season curry night at club sponsors The Tiffin Truck.

Junior section

Our junior section has seen continued growing this season, with age groups ranging from 7 to 15. Under the guidance of Head Coach, Jason Coleman, our training sessions were well-attended and full of energy. The U10’s in particular enjoyed some memorable matches, with the players involved gaining some valuable match experience. Looking ahead to 2026, we are eager to continue expanding our junior section - stay tuned for further details!
