March 2026 - Club Update
Did someone say #Threepeat?
In case you were living under a rock at the end of last season, our 1st XI made history in September by retaining the National Village Cup with a record-breaking 145-run victory over Stayley (Greater Manchester) at Lord’s.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made the trip to London to support the team, and to our matchday sponsors: Neat, CAD Technologies, Bidwells, AV Engineering, AJW Distribution, Terry Dash Music and Royston Golf Club. It is the backing of organisations like these that makes days like that possible.
The 1st XI will look to carry that momentum into the new season, targeting a stronger league performance and challenging for honours in the Onyx Cricket Cambs & Hunts Premier Division 1. Meanwhile, the 2nd and 3rd XIs will also aim for competitive campaigns in Premier Division 3 and the CCA Junior League respectively. And of course, we will be looking to defend our National Village Cup title - and make history as the first club ever to win the competition three years in a row.
Our successful midweek side remains in Division 1 and will be led this season by a new leadership pairing: Harry Hopwood and Sam Beer. Our thanks go to Henry Campbell, who steps down as Midweek Manager after several highly successful seasons.
New faces
Winter training is now underway, and it’s been fantastic to welcome some new additions who will strengthen the squads across all three teams.
We’re delighted to introduce two young Aussies joining us for the summer:
- Jonty Webb – left-arm spinner and middle-order batter
- Spencer Hawkins – left-arm fast bowler
Jonty currently plays First Grade cricket for a strong Northern Districts side in Sydney. Spencer joins us from Murrumbeena CC in Melbourne - the same club where Johnny, Lewys and Swinton have previously played - and we’re proud to continue that longstanding relationship.
We’re confident both lads will make a big impact on and off the field with the Foxes.
Many thanks to Johnny and Jason for their work in arranging this, and to Tim and Sam Lee for hosting the boys in Shepreth.
Junior Section
We are always keen to grow our junior section, with summer cricket available for ages 5–16. The junior programme will once again be led by Head Coach Jason Coleman, supported by Coach Rusil and Coach Asama, alongside our two overseas players. Our aim remains the same: to help young cricketers start, or continue, their development and ultimately transition into senior cricket. To get involved, please contact Clara Cheng at foxtongrantacc@gmail.com
AGM update
Thank you to everyone who attended this week’s AGM. It’s always valuable to bring members together to discuss the running and future of the club.
The committee continues to work hard to progress the construction of new artificial cricket nets at Foxton Rec. While progress has stalled recently, plans are in place to move forward again once the new Parish Council is formed in May. This is a complex and time-intensive project, but we remain optimistic - even if the timeline is slower than hoped.
La Manga Tour
In April, a group of members will head to Spain to drink sangria and play padel compete in the La Manga T20 Classic, taking on club teams from England, Ireland and Spain. This marks the first overseas tour since the merger - and hopefully the first of many. There is still time to join as either a player or supporter. Please contact Adam for more details.
Sponsors
A huge thank you to all our sponsors and supporters.
We are currently speaking with existing partners regarding renewals for the upcoming season and are always keen to engage with new businesses who would like to support the club. Partnerships like these allow us to continue developing players of all ages and abilities.
We look forward to welcoming you back to The Rec this summer - particularly for those exciting Sunday Village Cup fixtures. Details of our annual Sponsors’ and Vice-Presidents’ Day will be confirmed once the season gets underway.
