TUCKER PREMIER DIV. 1
Foxton 1st XI 119 (32 overs) Ramsey 1st XI 121-3 (20 overs)
Foxton's winning run came to a halt when they were soundly beaten by seven wickets at home to Ramsey. Losing the toss and being invited to bat they were soon under pressure losing Gareth Roots caught off the last ball of the second over to medium paceman David Carlaw who was beginning what turned out to be a match winning spell ably supported at the other end by Oliver Verral who was giving little away. The latter bowling from the church end using the cross wind very effectively then dismissed Antonnel Atwell (21) in his fifth over and home skipper Lawrence Farnum (16) in his seventh to leave the score at 52-3. Michael Cafferkey then replaced Verral and in his first over bowled Peter Moor for 22 and had Jeffery Douglas caught behind by James Markland without scoring to leave the hosts wobbling on 64-5. Foxton's struggles continued with only Max Bowen (21) and Tom Stone (14) contributing with any significance to the second part of the innings. In only 32 overs Foxton were all out for 119 with Carlaw bowling unchanged taking the final wicket with his very last ball to post an impressive haul of 16-5-46-6 ably supported by Michael Cafferkey with 3-30. All but one of the home batsmen were caught playing aggressive and sometimes irresponsible shots and they required an anchorman but none was forthcoming.
With so few runs to play with Foxton were anxious for a breakthrough and were given early encouragement when Stone had Michael Cafferkey caught for four and fellow opener Damian Clarke survived a very confident shout for a catch off Douglas which was turned down. Overseas player Travis Townsend with a brisk 28 (five fours) and Clarke unbeaten on 57 (12 fours) then eased Ramsey home in only 20 overs with two wickets as consolation for Douglas.
The 2nd XI also went down at Chippenham by 79 runs.
Next week Foxton 1st XI entertain St. Ives whilst the 2nd's visit top of the table Helions Bumpstead.
